Original Text: Characteristics of a Good Teacher

Is it really possible to evaluate the price of education and/or wisdom? Teachers play a vital key in tomorrow’s success. Henry Adams once said, “A teacher affects eternity; he can never tell where his influence stops. In many ways educators have helped made the unseen seen, the unknown known, and the misunderstood understood. Characteristics that define superior teachers are ambition, independence, and diversity.
A teacher’s ambition for education is imperative to the success of his students. His driven motivation should reflect the importance of knowledge in life and a thirst for understanding. Students who motivate themselves rather than pushed are more likely to be more successful not only in curriculum but life as well. Imagine being taught by someone who doesn’t care for the subject at hand. How much information would actually be retained due to the teacher’s lack of interest? When ambition is present, so are the opportunities.
Independent teachers observe student progress and problems while intervening when necessary. By acting more as a facilitator rather than a teacher students will be more inclined to motivate themselves to learn rather than rely on someone or something else. This allows the students to become the center of the classroom and not the teacher. This promotes a better understanding of work habits rather than just learning from the curriculum. Independence creates better individuals in many ways, mostly so no one needs to rely on anyone else but themselves.
One of the most important qualities of a great teacher is diversity. Some students are auditory learners while others are visual or hands-on learners. By being diverse in teaching styles educators are able to get a higher successful passing rate, than if they just concentrated on one. Proficient teachers present a diverse array of opportunities to pursue excellence.
Teachers are given the opportunity to plant character and greatness into each student they mentor. Not many know this but ambition is contagious, and not in a bad way. Teachers who are independent also teach students to be self motivated. Diverse educators see better results. In order to be a great teacher one must have ambition, independence, and diversity.

Revised Text:

Is it really possible to evaluate the value of education and/or wisdom? Teachers play a vital key in tomorrow’s success. Henry Adams once said, “A teacher affects eternity; he can never tell where his influence stops." In many ways educators have helped make the unseen seen, the unknown known, and the misunderstood understood. Characteristics that define superior teachers are ambition, independence, and diversity.

A teacher’s ambition for education is imperative to the success of his students. His driven motivation should reflect the importance of knowledge in life, and a thirst for understanding. Students who motivate themselves, rather than being pushed, are more likely to be more successful, not only in the curriculum, but in life as well. Imagine being taught by someone who doesn’t care for the subject at hand. How much information would actually be retained due to the teacher’s lack of interest? When ambition is present, so are the opportunities.

Independent teachers observe student progress and problems, and intervene when necessary. By acting more as a facilitator rather than a teacher, students will be more inclined to motivate themselves to learn, rather than rely on someone or something else. This allows the students, and not the teacher, to become the center of the classroom . This promotes a better understanding of work habits, rather than just learning from the curriculum. Independence creates better individuals in many ways, mostly so no one needs to rely on anyone but themselves.

One of the most important qualities of a great teacher is diversity. Some students are auditory learners, while others are visual or hands-on learners. By being diverse in teaching styles, educators are able to get a higher successful passing rate than if they just concentrated on one style. Proficient teachers present a diverse array of opportunities to pursue excellence.

Teachers are given the opportunity to plant character and greatness in each student they mentor. Not many know this, but ambition is contagious, and not in a bad way. Teachers who are independent also teach students to be self motivated. Diverse educators see better results. In order to be a great teacher, one must have ambition, independence, and diversity.
