Dear Xxxxxxxxxxxx:

The name Xxxxxxxxxxxx always seems to come up when discussing nuclear power, it should be no surprise that Xxxxxxxxxxxx is the leader in nuclear power, around half of the power plants in the world use its technology. I am very impressed with the number of different countries Westinghouse is involved with, bringing them new plants, new technology, and self sufficient plants. The history dates back to the first PWR in 1957 where many years have shown improvement with most recent being the AP1000 reactor. As a studying Nuclear Engineer at the University of Florida in Gainesville, Fl with strong interests in the future of Nuclear Energy, I would like to receive a Summer internship to learn more about what Westinghouse is about.

To develop an understanding of Nuclear Energy I have taken several nuclear engineering courses at UF including Reactor Analysis and Computation 1, Nuclear Engineering Analysis 1, and Radiation Interactions and Sources 1. I also have strong computer skills with many computer programs and operating systems including AutoCAD, Adobe Programs, Windows, also programming in FORTRAN and TK Solver; I discussed these more in detail in attached resume. In addition I completed my certification in New Media Technology at William T. McFatter Tech High School, learning 3D and other visual programs.

Upon receiving a summer internship at Xxxxxxxxxxxx, I would bring dedication and hard work to better my understanding of the four core product lines of Xxxxxxxxxxxx, Nuclear Fuel and Power Plants being my main area of interest. Being the “supplier of choice” for Nuclear fuel, and designing more than half of the power plants in the United States, this would be the best opportunity to advance my knowledge and enhance my career as a Nuclear Engineer.

I am currently a member of American Nuclear Society at UF, and plan on working hard to receive the position of Vice President for 2012. Attending meetings, working at conferences and being involved with e-fair and other activities are some ways I plan to achieve this goal. Over the next year I plan to gain experience and expertise to make me a better overall engineer than what I currently am today.

This letter and attached resume can only bring little insight to what I am capable of achieving. I would like to have a interview to better discuss the position and what I can contribute to Xxxxxxxxxxxx. I look forward to meeting you soon, please contact me at xxxxxxxxxxxxx.com.
