Original Text: Domestic tourism in Iran
Even before tourism becoming a global phenomenon, traveling for leisure mostly in hometown areas was inevitable parts of human way of life (Adler, 1989; Enzensberger, 1996). It was also true for Iran with an old and rich civilization. As stated in introduction, travel and tourism in Iran trace to ancient times, but the first official attempts to pay particular attention to tourism was formed by establishing Jalbe- Sayahan Bureau in the Ministry of Interior, 75 years ago (Tourist consults, 1975). The aim of this organization was to introduce Iran’s valuable ancient civilization to the world and develop tourism industry for the benefit of people. Since then, many efforts have been made to boost tourism within the country. As a result, many tourist accommodations in popular tourist spots were established mainly alongside Caspian Sea costal zones and pleasant mountain destinations near Tehran, the capital, such as Dizin, Meygon, Shemshak, etc.
